What to submit…

…and what not to submit

In case there were any doubts about what to submit, here’s a quick list of do’s and don’ts we gave people who were thinking of submitting an idea to the Ideas Campaign.

Do

  • Give us your insights on the problems you face in business, in your community, your school and so on but, in keeping with the campaign motto (no whinging), propose a solution
  • Draw from your own experience, whatever that is, to give an idea that will help you, your community and ultimately Ireland to emerge in a stronger position from this recession
  • Read some of the sample of ideas we are publishing to the site or indeed the content in the Ireland’s Economy sector to get a flavour of the citizens’ ideas and also the economic issues this country faces
  • Think outside the box. Sometimes people who have no knowledge of a business, a sector or a community or voluntary issue come up with the best ideas

Don’t

  • Send us in your business plan for your dream business
  • Tell us about a business idea that you think has tons of potential - assuming no-one else gets there first
  • Give confidential or sensitive information

Each working day from March to 10 April we have been publishing new ideas to this website. We are only publishing a small sample of what we receive. But we’re being very, very careful.

If we see evidence of ideas that have confidential, sensitive information we will not publish them. Also, we have edited some of the contributions for sense, length and balance.

The citizens of Ireland have placed their faith in this campaign to act in an honourable and trustworthy way. The members of our Advisory Group would not lend their name to an initiative which does not have high standards of governance at its core.

Also, our terms and conditions, which are very similar to other reputable sites, have been vetted by legal experts.

If we are to do our job well, and turn your ideas into an action plan, our Advisory Group needs to be able to work freely with the ideas published on the site. We need your permission to do this. We are absolutely clear and upfront about this. This is clearly stated in our Guidelines for submitting ideas.

So there is no need for “warnings” about protecting intellectual property. We are the first to say that if it’s not for public use and benefit, please do not submit it to the Ideas Campaign.
