Tourism is a big earner for Ireland. Hotels, restaurants, B&Bs and other tourism businesses have a large dependence on overseas tourism revenues. But the sector is highly competitive and one of the first to be hit by an economic shock.

Irish tourism faces greater challenges than many competing markets - a smaller domestic market, access to the country and increasingly higher costs. But it also has some distinct advantages - our people, our landscapes and our heritage.
