Ideas Guidelines

The Ideas Campaign wants people in Ireland to rebuild the Irish economy and propose specific ways to:

  • Preserve or grow jobs
  • Develop key sectors of the economy, specifically those with export potential
  • Make policy changes to make it easier to do business and to develop our skills

We’re looking for insights and solutions that you might have from running a business, working in a particular sector, lecturing or attending college, looking for a job or even just observing the downward spiral of economic activity.

But you don’t have to be in business or even interested in business to submit an idea. While ultimately it will be business activity that will revive the economy, we believe passionately that creative and innovative ideas can come from anyone:

  • You may belong to a voluntary organisation, with ideas to enrich the society in which we live
  • You may be a parent whose children will be looking for jobs in a few years’ time
  • You may be a concerned citizen who cares enough about this country’s future to spend a bit of time on the site

We’re not expecting elaborate business plans or the inside track on a new business venture or confidential information. Instead, we’re looking for brief details and as much factual information to support your ideas as possible.

No whinging please!

No whinging please!

And remember the campaign motto - no whinging. Where you identify a problem which you believe is impeding economic activity or business opportunities, then propose a solution. But remember what you propose must be realistic and achievable. It must take account of the global economic recession, our depleted public finances, the banking crisis and the depressed local market.

In particular, we’re looking for “quick wins” - ideas that can be put into action with little or no investment and with no fanfare but can make a difference.

We know those ideas are out there. The Ideas Campaign wants to harness them.
